James Belt is a member and leader at Crossroads Community Church in Westminster, MD.  Over the past ten years, he has had the pleasure of seeing God move in ways no one could have imagined when the church was formed in 2002.  In addition to his involvement in the church, James has spent the past nine years as a financial advisor as well as assisting his father, Jay, with their family business.  All of these pieces of his journey as well as his time as a Young Life leader have been preparation for the next part of God’s plan for his life.

At age 30, James has felt a calling to divide his ministry time between Crossroads and Nicaragua, where Crossroads has been partnering with an orphanage since 2006.  In partnership with VNDF and the local church in Nicaragua, James plans to spend the next three years helping people realize their full, God given potential through holistic economic and community development.  Using a combination of vocational training, business training and mentoring in microenterprise/agricultural development, James and the team hope to assist people in Nicaragua to flourish in businesses and in their lives in order to break the cycle of extreme generational poverty.

James would like to use the in2theriver blog to share his journey and encourage others in their own personal journeys.
